Academic WorldQuest™ tests students’ knowledge of current international politics, geography, global economics, history, and world cultures. Some 50 World Affairs Councils hold local Academic WorldQuest™ (AWQ) competitions for high school students in their communities. Since 2003, winning teams have traveled to Washington, DC, every April to vie for the national championship.
Each year, the national competition focuses on pressing issues of our time. This year, students will gain knowledge on:

- Demographic Dividends - Population Shift in Africa
- The Global South
- Sports and Diplomacy
- Country in Focus: South Korea

PS - In addition to Academic WordQuest, this year we will be competing in both the High School Quiz Bowl: Maine competition as well as several MEQBTA (Maine Quiz Bowl Tournament Alliance) Matches. On High School Quiz Show: Maine, we've placed into the final 16 teams in Maine the past three years and gotten the chance to go to live TV shows, finishing up last year in the semi-finals!
We've also been to the SSNCT (Small School Academic Quiz Nationals) in Chicago in 2022 and 2023 as well as placing Number 1 in the State Of Maine Academic Worldquest tournament and representing Maine at Academic WorldQuest Nationals in Washington, DC in 2021!!
