This is a year long course where you will learn the basics of ceramics.  We will focus on learning how to throw on the potter's wheel, while also exploring a few hand builing projects.  The first term will focus on the basics - how to throw simple forms on the wheel.  As with any skill, the amount of time you spend practicing is directly related to your skill level.  Assignments will be given weekly.  Each assignment is due the first day of class the following week, at the beginning of that class, no later.  There will be 9 assignments for the term.  Each one of these can receive up to 10 points - 4 for completion of the pieces, 2 for craftsmanship, 2 for creativity, and 2 for effort.  All of the points will be added together to form your final grade.  Your cleanliness and care in the studio, as well as attitude and participation will also factor into your final grade.  I look forward to the term with you!
